Review: Unloved

Unloved Unloved by Katy Regnery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of Book Addict live,
What a heartbreaking, but beautiful love story this book is. This is the story of Brynn whose fiancee was shot a pop concert two years before. Out of desperation Brynn decides to take his mobile phone to his favourite mountain and bury his phone and say a real goodbye.
We have Cassidy whose father had been sent to prison for rape and murder. He lives of the grid in his grandfather’s house where he has lived since his father’s arrest. His mother brought him with her when he was still a child. He has lived on his own for years, his promised his mother he would never hurt anyone so he kept to his self.
One day to feel part of the human race his walks up the mountain out of everyone’s sight. Until he hears screaming and comes upon this creep stabbing a woman he throws the man of her and he sees Brynn. He takes her home and treats her stab wounds and looks after her. They can’t help falling in love. Cassidy knows nothing can be permanent. You can help but fall in love with Cassidy and deep down you know he won’t hurt Brynn.
This has dark themes, but you can feel the emotion between them. Cassidy knows he can’t keep her because of what runs in his veins and the promise he made to mother and grandfather. Katy always knows how to pull me into a story and plays on my emotions like a piano. There is always plenty of drama and angst before we get the hea. This is a standalone with no cliffhangers. This story makes you think about all the victims of violent crime.
If you like to read something different, then you would love this. I read this in one seating, but remained on my mind much longer.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review
