Review: Sinful Empire

Sinful Empire Sinful Empire by Meghan March
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow I loved the whole series, but this book was great with everything leading to some surprising twists and turns. I am in love with Lachland Mount. All I can say is I am hooked on the audio edition as it made me feel like I was really there with him.
I got really carried away when Joe Arden was narrating, and paired Grace Grant this was a winning team.
A Great finish to a wonderful trilogy.

The Brands Who Came For Christmas The Brands Who Came For Christmas by Maggie Shayne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When you have a one night stand, make sure you use birth control.
This is a sweet story of a 29 year virgin losing her virginity before her 30th birthday.
The next thing we know is she is expecting twins.
This is a feel good romance from Maggie Shayne and the first story in The Oklahoma Brands series.
A good intro for the series.

Review: Power Struggle

Power Struggle Power Struggle by Paige Fieldsted
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
Power struggle is the first novel I have read by this author, and it won’t be the last. I was pulled into the story right away. I always like reading dual POV especially in these intense, and very adult situations. We meet Olivia Roberts an extraordinary defense attorney we a great record at one of prestigious Law Firms in New York. Ten years of her life was devoted to her career hoping to be made partner, leaving little time for relationships.
All’s well until one James Beck super attorney at law is recruited by Olivia’s firm with offer of a partnership. I have set the scene, but after arriving in New York early James goes out on the town and meets this fabulous women, who like only wants sex and no relationship just like him. After one of the best nights of his life he meets her Monday morning the new law firm he is started at.
Then the action and a war start. This is a very entertaining book with scorching sex scenes, a murder trial runs through the story. I can’t believe this is Paige’s 2nd book. The writing puts you right there with them. I can’t recommend this enough if enjoy reading about 2 people over the age of thirty getting it on with such scorching hot passion.

Review: The Vixen's Lead

The Vixen's Lead The Vixen's Lead by Tate James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf http://bookaddict.live,
I do love getting to read new series, with a kickass Heroine, and a house of hot hunks. We meet Kit and her best friend Lucy in the middle of a robbery. Kit is doing the robbery, and Lucy hacking into the computer security.
By day they are two young ladies at a private Academy, bemoaning the lack of decent male stock when a set of twins start that seem older and more ripped than normal guys there age group sparks Kit’s interest. This all happens after a tracking device is found in one of the stolen items.

That’s just the beginning, hold on for the start off a rollercoaster adventure, that introduces all the main characters in a great beginning of this new series. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and can’t wait for Book two to see what mischief Kit can start with the Omega Group.

Behind the Bars Behind the Bars by Brittainy C. Cherry
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow what a beautiful story, I think I still have a few tears in my eyes. We first meet Jasmine and Elliott when they are sixteen, and they have such a beautiful connection. They recognise the music in their souls and the love. When Jasmine forced away, she is heartbroken leaving behind her stepfather and Elliott.
New Orleans is the first time Jasmine felt at home, but her mother drags her away to England and carries on pushing Jasmine into being a pop star, something she doesn’t want. Finally she has enough and goes home to New Orleans.
They both start to live again, and it was lovely to read. There is heartbreak, and then there is Hope and Love. I can’t recommend this enough, but get your hankies out. I can say you will have a smile on your face at the end. This story has heart and a happy ending.

Villains & Vodka Villains & Vodka by Alta Hensley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
Well Madison has been stalking Harley Crow, and has been obsessing over him, but Harley is usually on his own, and as Marlowe was never working in his area they had never connected before. The Spiked Roses exclusive Men’s Club sets up tastings, which was all different themes. When The Dark and Deadly is announced, and Harley is attending Madison can’t resist signing up.
This is not a pretty romance wrapped up with pretty words. If you read the first in the Series you may have some idea. This is a hired assassin, a paid killer, and he thinks he has a dark soul. Marlowe got her wish and went home with Harley for a weekend. This is a dark and dirty tale, and Harley couldn’t have a woman that is not afraid of him and makes him feel things. So things have to get more deadly .
So this was something I enjoyed if that’s the right word. Alta Hensley always writes well, and I am always are pulled into the story. This Series is not for the faint of heart.

Colton fell in love with Evie after throwing a pie in his face. Evie fascinated Colton, he was use to woman throwing themselves at him. So when she ran from him, he chased.
This has so much more than a straight forward romance. I loved the relationship between Colton, Evie and Carter. I don’t want to spoil the story for you. There is a lot going on, and you won’t expect any of it. Give it a go, you won’t be disappointed.

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
I have really enjoyed reading about Violet and Alexander, or Mr Knightley. Where have I heard that name before? This is a lovely romance, and they are a great couple from the word go. Violet is employed to try and sort out his paperwork, and get his billing up to date.
This is set mostly in London, and Louise describes Lincoln Inn, and chambers so well. I had a cousin who was barrister there, and it brought back memories. If you enjoyed The Duke of Manhattan, this is Scarlett little sister. This had everything you would like in it like hot sex, a hunky man, great banter and a couple worth cheering on. They were perfect for each other, and I was hooked from the beginning. This to me was the perfect entertaining romance.

Review: Wolves and Roses

Wolves and Roses Wolves and Roses by Christina Bauer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of Book Addict live,
This is Book one in a wonderful new series by Christina Bauer, and as usual she has drawn me into another series that has kept me hooked.
This is set in a world where magic appears to dying, in this first trip into the Fairy Tales of the Magicorum.
Our kick ass heroine Bryer Rose who is living the Sleeping Beauty Template. Her best friend is Elle a failing Cinderella template. They both attend Magicorum teen Therapy Group for failing to live up to their templates.
Two great female characters who are tough and can take care of themselves. We always have such strong females in Christina’s books and this one is no different. The action really kicks in when they get caught breaking into LaCharmes office and they meet the arrival committee in the form of Knox and Alec, I have only one thing to say LET THE GAMES BEGIN.
The adventures certainly begin, and I was dragged me into the story that didn’t let me out until the end. When I finished I felt totally bereft. So I went back and read Thrax, and enjoyed so more girl power. We didn’t just have girl power, Knox was pretty spectacular and I could understand Bryar's attraction. I could go on about this book, but then there would be nothing for you to find out. If you enjoy Christina’s books you’ll love this. If you haven’t read any, this is book one in a new series. So it’s good place to start. I will say you are not left on a cliffhanger, as the story arc for couple finish on a positive not.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddictive,
I don’t know how Christina Bauer manages to do it, I have been hooked on the Angelbound Series, and then I discovered this series. It seems I’ve waiting ages for this book I just couldn’t see how it was going to be resolved. As always nothing is ever easy for our kickass heroine. I thought she had Rowan and the casters now, that’s too easy for Elea.
As always they have a great cast of characters that have appeared through the books in the Series. Also a visit from vindictive Victor put in his usual appearance trying to take over the worlds.
I did love Rowan’s little brother Jicho, and his magic ship. This book was a compelling read, if you have never read this series, I really recommend it, as Christina always develops such rich worlds with great characters. Even the baddies are inventive with their schemes. I was very happy with the outcome, and we ended on a happy note. As always it was feast for the brain, and gives the imagination at a FIVE Star work out.

This book is about Sean the policeman friend of Gavin and Myla, and plenty of other characters from same world. Sean has got used to seeing his best friends happy, fulfilled and in love.
Then he gets a new partner Jessica McBee, and he works with her for a year or two before either one will admit to other how they feel.
This was a quick and I felt quite a festive read, but there is so much packed in, with the story and the time line. This is no insta lust or love, they get to become best friends and partners first and the rest follows. There is so much more but that’s it from me, you need to read it yourself. This can be read as a standalone or a great addition to the series.

Penalty Play Penalty Play by Jami Davenport
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
I do enjoy one of Jami Davenport’s Seattle Sports Romances, but I have to say this one was one of my favourites. Matt, Vi, and the boys was such a lovely treat.
At the beginning it was a meeting of the Odd Couple Vi the tattooed stripper, and Matt the straitlaced man who likes his life ordered and sane. The chemistry between them was unwelcome at first, but neither can resist other.
I loved Vi with the boys, and the healthy food she tries to feed them made me laugh.
This was a sweet sexy love story about two lost people who found each other and made their lives complete. I especially like imagining a lot sweaty sexy hunks playing Hockey. Matt was a great surprise to me, he always seemed boring on the surface, but he was a real surprise. If you enjoy a good sports romance then this the one for you.

This is book two in The Walker Security Series, and it never fails or I’m very fickle because I've been in love with Kyle from Deep Under. Now I’m in quandary because Asher really does for me. There is nothing sexier than one of Lisa Renee Jones Heroes they always feel like the real deal.
Sorry I was focusing on Asher, I can’t help it. On another note I always have a lot of respect for her heroines, and Sierra did not disappoint. The more you get to know about her the more kickass Sierra becomes.
When these two get together under such extreme circumstances you can feel the attraction sparking between them. All this with a life and death situation that Lisa weaves with her usual expertise. I was glued to my kindle, and ended up reading through the night. To me this is a five star feast in every respect.
Even though this is about Asher and Walker Security they can be read as a standalone, each couple get their HEA, but we meet all the bunch through each story. Anyway this is a great series so give one a try.

Review: The Infinity Gene

The Infinity Gene The Infinity Gene by Sue Wyshynski
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
The Infinity Gene is the sequel to The Butterfly Code from the Girl on Fire series by Sue Wyshynski. It’s a long awaited addition to the series, with the first released in 2015. It only took me a minute to get back into the series, to find myself in the trans-humanistic world again, but once I jumped in I was hooked. Aeris is a compelling character, full of strength, naivety, love, and determination.
During the first book she was thrust into a new world, one that she thought would give her answers about her mother, but instead left her with more questions. In book two we see even more so how she has embraced this new version of the world she has found and how there’s a place for her in it, even if it wasn’t truly meant to be. Hunter is back, of course, and as lovely as ever. We don’t get enough of him, though we do see the lengths he is willing to go for Aeris. We also revisit with several of the other genetically modified humans, as well as meet the others that we have only known of by title, The Winterborn Survivors.
Wow I love these kind of books, as we all know it’s only a matter of time before this things happen, or have they already? The first book the Butterfly Effect pulled me into this series. The Infinity Gene has kept me there. I don’t know what to say, I don’t want give anything away. I will say this carried straight after book one finished. Aeris is lured to an interview, about writing music for movie and television. Once there she is attacked, while there she see a young girl tied to a chair and rescues her, but she finally gets away only to find the Tribunal is coming, and because of her Hunter’s life is in danger. Aeris she has to leave him to save him.
As we all know nothing is that easy, but I ‘m waiting to read book three which is now on Kindle unlimited. This one of those that keep you hooked, and this definitely a five star read for me, and I can’t wait for more.

The Rivalry The Rivalry by Nikki Sloane
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
This is an enjoyable tale about a girl and boy who meet and really like each other a lot. There’s only one thing wrong, the girl called Layla who’s family are football fanatics, so much so her mother gave birth to her in the football Stadium while Ohio State while playing their Arch rivals Michigan and unfortunately they lost.
Thus begins a fierce hatred begins that is instilled in the children especially their daughter who is now Captain of the cheerleaders.
The boy named Jay comes from a normal family, who only support Michigan because their son plays for the College football.
This is a lighthearted look at the Rivalry between two college football teams that spills over into Jay and Layla’s secret romance, that causes all sorts of problems. I loved Jay he was so smitten with Layla, but it takes Layla longer to realise her feelings. This is sweet love story, that had me chuckling at times at some of things Kayla got up too. This is an amusing book that I read in one go, and left me with a smile on my face.

Dirty Filthy Fix is a slice of life from The Fixed Trilogy for 1001 Dark Nights series. In this Dirty Filthy Fix we meet Patricia, Hudson Pierce’s so prim and proper secretary. Who on Saturday nights goes to sex parties where she very strict rules on how she conducts herself.
Then she meets Nathan Sinclair who is a partner at the same company as Donovan Kincaid from Dirty Filthy Rich Men Duet. Immediately Trish is attracted to Nate as soon as they meet at one of Saturday night Open Door sex parties, so she knows he is no stranger to dirty kinky sex.
What Trish doesn’t expect is the connection she feels for him. At the parties Trish never takes off her mask, so she gobsmacked when Nate appears for an appointment with her boss and recognises her straight away.
I don’t know how Laurelin does it, as always I was glued to my steaming kindle as this book is HOT and filthy goes without saying.
This is a novella, but it didn’t feel like it. It never felt rushed and for the commitment phobe like Trish and their unconventional outlook on life The road to their HEA. was travelled along in a less traditional route which fitted the couple well. I can’t recommend this book enough, it’s a great edition to Laurelin’s Dirty Filthy, and Fixed universes. I can’t wait for the Audio copy so I can enjoy it all again.

Wow this book blew me away, but I have to say you really needed to read the books in order. Otherwise you would find it hard to really understand Cara’s motivation.
This book was more of a bigger picture, overall what was going on in the country and how it affected normal people.
I was riveted in the story, and the way it played out. This is not for the fainthearted, but if you have read the rest of the books in this series you will know what to expect.
Special Agent Mathew Roarke has returned to the FBI to head task force whose mission is rid society of its worse sexual Predators.
Unfortunately his team is sent to investigate the attacks on universities by Bitch on Halloween, where they leave dummies as the skeletal symbols of Santa Muerte, “Lady Death,” mysteriously appear at universities across the country. The message to rapists beware, we know who you are? That is just the start, you will have read it yourself to learn more.
This is a must read if you have read the series, if you haven’t read the series I would start now. I was blown away by this book, and definitely would give more than 5 stars if I could.

I do enjoy these series of books and especially enjoyed Andre’s. I think many of us would enjoy a book about ex-marine hunk so Alpha you just want to swoon. This is about Andre falling for someone who is in hiding, and finds himself looking after the woman of his dreams.
That the thing about these books are the woman are strong, even after suffering from a traumatic past. They come out stronger keeping the men on their toes. Kendell stands up for herself very well, and keeps Andre on his toes in and out of the bedroom. This is a great bit of escapism with lots of hot men, with plenty of hot sex thrown. I absolutely enjoyed every minute of it.  I can honestly say I read this in one go, it always great to see the rest of guys in action. So suspend believe  enjoy an evening of escapism.

It is always good to step inside the wider Stark world. In this standalone we meet Noah, who has survived a terrible personal tragedy losing his wife and daughter to kidnappers some years previously.
Kiki now on her own after her divorce, but runs a successful company and finally getting her life on track. I love second chance love stories they are usually older but not necessarily wiser. This was a complex love story, with the baggage Kiki carries from her childhood.
Noah carries guilt for how he left Kiki the first time, and guilt from the kidnapping and death of his wife and daughter Diana. The fact that is a second chance romance I think it mad all the emotional turmoil more understandable.
I loved this book it captivated me, and with the intense emotions Kiki and Noah felt I couldn’t put it down. I kept my fingers crossed for both of these damaged people.
That's all from me, as I don’t won’t to spoil anything for you. Even though it was a pleasure to step into the Stark world. This can be read as standalone.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
He Loves me knot is the story of the runaway bride, who then has to work with her ex many years later.
This is the story of Emma Jane and Knox, we don’t get to know Knox until a little later. Emma Jane flies into a gay bar still in her wedding gown, absolutely heartbroken.
There she meets Beckett a star quarterback who is incognito, after telling her tale of woe which we don’t find out until much later in the book. Beckett is a great guy and helps Emma Jane to start a life in Jacksonville.
Trouble begins eight years later when Knox takes over the company where Emma Jane works. This is when Knox starts off being a dick, and as we get to know him. We realise how heartbroken he was when E.J didn’t to turn up to marry him.
We have flashbacks to tell the story from 8 years before. So as the book moves along we also see the past. I really enjoyable read from alternate points of view, when Knox joins us in the present.
They have to work together, and realise that they still have great chemistry, and then they fall in love with their new selves. Knox and Emma Jane were so good together. Beckett was as cute as matchmaker to Knox and Emma Jane. I can’t wait for Becker to get his own story.

Review: The Year of the Knife

The Year of the Knife The Year of the Knife by G.D. Penman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
Sully is a powerfully witch that works for the IBI (Imperial Bureau of investigation) for the British Empire. It is her job to deal with the worst paranormal attacks in the American colonies. When a string of mass murders continues to happen, it is up to Sully find and stop the killer. But soon Sully realizes she may be dealing with someone with magic never seen before. Can Sully crack the case before it is too late?
I devoured this book, it was full of so many different paranormals which I loved. Witches, vamps, skin walkers, demons, it was a great mix and they fit into this world in ways you would not expect. For one, vampires are considered very lowly. They are banished, killed, hunted and at best ignored, pending what part of the world you are in. Humans know they are living with things that go bump in the night but the witches and other magic users keep them in line. I really got immersed in this world and thought it was well done. I don’t remember ever quite reading a book like this before, and considering all the paranormal books I have read, I’m pretty impressed.
Sully has to be the biggest badass witch I have ever read about. I just loved her character. She is awesomely powerful but she is not invincible. I liked that even with all her power, her life was still on the line, it made the story more exciting. I am not going to give anything more away, but I would love a sequel please Mr Penman. This has so many different elements in this story, that I think will appeal to a lot of readers.

Review: Zane

Zane Zane by Christie Ridgway
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
This is a series of interconnecting Books all centred on Eagle’s Rock, a town founded by four world war two veterans. Zane grandfather Sam being one of them. Zane is depressed because his siblings have all found there soulmates, and he doesn’t think he fit to be around a decent woman. Zane is 6foot 4inches and is clumsy always knocking thinks over. So at the beginning Zane was trying to convince himself that he is ready to be the unmarried uncle.
Zane also rescued a big beast of a dog called Gambler, who panic’s when he hears certain noises. When Gambler rushes off and knocks down the new Librarian Harper Grace.
Boom and clatter seem to be Zane and Gambler’s signature entrance. I really enjoyed this book, Harper and Zane were perfect together. The other characters had lots going on. This had me chuckling at times, with meant lots of funny looks coming my way.
There is a lot happening around the main couple, so a great mix of character interaction. Harper and Zane were great together making this an entertaining read.

Review: Saving It

Saving It Saving It by Monica Murphy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
Whenever I read a Monica Murphy YA story, I always find myself back in my 18 yrs. old mind.
I loved both characters Joshua and Eden, who have been best friends for years, all that changes when Josh ask her to find a girl to lose his virginity too. It was a good switch being a boy needing help and still being a virgin.
All the talk of sex made them look each other differently. I found them so cute together, it seems like they were the only ones who didn’t realise what was happening between them. I loved the other best friends Molly and Abraham they were so funny.
Monica’s knack is that it all seems so realistic, not all the made up with all the stars and music fading.
I would happy letting my teenage daughter read this and enjoy as much as I did.

Review: My American Nightmare - Women in Horror Anthology

My American Nightmare - Women in Horror Anthology My American Nightmare - Women in Horror Anthology by Azzurra Nox
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of Book Addict.live,
For the purpose of this review I am reviewing the book in one go. There are multiples of small different stories, which cover most of the legends and genre. The one thing that made easy reading was all the stories are bite size chunks. The different authors appear to get right into our physic, and play on all the legends and fears we keep to ourselves.
The warning I will give is if you are looking for happy endings you don’t get many, in a few you may just survive. This is geared more towards young adults as they are the stars of the stories. I have to say I enjoyed reading this book even if it gave me the creeps at various times and venues

Review: The Other Brother

The Other Brother The Other Brother by Meghan Quinn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of Book Addict live,
We meet another couple in Meghan’s series of standalones, but sometimes they are characters we have met in previous books. This is the story of Smalls, friend and work partner to Tucker and Racer from previous books. Each of these men have had a hard life so it is gratifying to see each of the guys get their hea. So I was really pleased that it was Aaron’s turn.
As someone new moves in next door, Aaron can’t believe that it’s his ex-girlfriend Amelia, the girl he loved more than his self.
Amelia has moved back, because her father’s Alzheimer’s has gotten worse and she wants to be near him. Even though she has left Trey her boyfriend behind. He is hoping to follow as soon as he can.
I loved this couple together, this is a very emotional book. My god you could feel the chemistry between them. Unfortunately there was a lot of hurt and misunderstandings to get through before they reach HEA. I can’t recommend this book enough it’s a beautiful story and I loved every minute of it, and always good to see my boys happy.

Review: Darkest Temptation

Darkest Temptation Darkest Temptation by Rachel Van Dyken
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of Book Addict live,
In this series of standalones from The Dark Ones Saga, we meet Mason King of The Wolves, and Serenity a vampire. I really enjoyed this book I was pulled into the action straight away and had to read this in one go. At one time I only read paranormal romance, but I’ve given it a break for a few years except for select authors.
So I was really pleased to see this series from Rachel because I enjoy her contemporaries. I am so glad I decided to read this series. As it so easy to read everything flows effortlessly that it becomes a joy to read.
Without giving anything away we have two broken people who begin to heal through their bond of love. It was an enthralling journey Serenity and Mason go on to become who they are meant to be.
I can’t recommend this enough, if you love paranormal you’ll love this. If you enjoy romance give it a go.

Review: Lost Before You

Lost Before You Lost Before You by Brooke O'Brien
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of Book Addict.live,
This is Book 2 in the series and is the story of Mason and Brea. They have been best friends at college for a couple of years, which has caused problems of jealousy with her boyfriend Kaleb.
What happens when best friends fall in love, it becomes a beautiful love story. Alas we know the path to true love never runs smooth.
This is book two in the Heart’s Compass series, the stories are interconnected. Mason is the younger brother of Callan from book one. They each can be read as standalone
I loved Mason and Brea they were adorable together. This is an enjoyable read, with best friends to lover’s troupe, and all angst that go with it. I think it would be best you read it yourself to find out what happens

Review: #1 Player

#1 Player #1 Player by T. Gephart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of Book Addict.live,
This is a really enjoyable read, and I thought Ryan and Lila were cute together. Even though we met the pair in #1 Crush and the couple Eric and Tia from #1 Crush do appear in this book, but it can read as a standalone.
We they first met was instant attraction both deciding to enjoy a sexual relationship while Lila stays in LA for work and while living with Tia and Eric.
This is very hot sexy read, with the chemistry between the two off the charts. They grew close very quickly, and you could feel the love blossom between them.
If you enjoy a great romance where you can see love growing between the couple. I fell for Ryan myself so was very jealous of all the attention Lila received from him.
This is a funny enjoyable read from T. Gephart.

Review: Kiss Me Crazy

Kiss Me Crazy Kiss Me Crazy by Vanessa Vale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a quick and crazy story of Avery coming back to Bridgewater County for her sister’s wedding. Dreading coming back because of her parents constant arguments and put downs.
Being stranded in Minnesota Airport had its good points as Avery bumps into Jackson and Dash both her high school crushes. Christmas comes in two’s in Bridgewater County.
Avery who is afraid of relationships slips out in the middle of the night. Jackson and Dash have no intention of letting getting away.
This is a quick and enjoyable story, with a festive feel to it. Sometimes all you want is something not too long, and puts a smile on your face at the end.
