Review: The F Student

The F Student The F Student by Xyla Turner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cassius is the F Student in this book, which appears to be a small slice of life in the college community
Cass lost his brother 2 years ago, and has been in downward spiral ever since. A straight A student to an F. His father has stopped his money. His roommate Shaggy has tried to get him interested in life again. The first means Graduate, and back to the straight and narrow.
This thing he has to do is find a way to get enough money to stay and graduate. Shaggy comes up with the idea of underground fights.
He also offered money from another source, which he is not happy about. Through the fights he meets Trudy, and she helps to get him involved in his studies. I’m not saying anymore, this is a small slice of a bigger picture. I can’t wait for those pictures. This is a quick read with quite a bit packed in. So I’m waiting for the other slices until we get the A student.

REVIEW
SEASONS WITHIN
BY LELE ITURRIOZ

What a wonderful surprise Seasons Within is, I fell in love with most of characters from the word go. I actually read it in one sitting, I couldn’t put it down.
This is about G and her friend Priyam who live in an Orphanage in small town America. G can’t remember anything before 12 years ago, and Priy parents are dead .So they are as close as sisters.
This is the start of an incredible adventure, which we are gradually introduced to the six, and the flight to safety, as Gaia starts her training with fire with Edan. It’s quite difficult to not give anything important away. Gaia and Priy finally feel like they have a family.
A great bunch of characters, a story that won’t let you stop reading. A great start to a great fantasy. It’s a wonderful escape for a few hours. I can’t wait for book two, so buy the book and escape from reality.

Review: Surrender

Surrender Surrender by Lisa Renee Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

We are finally here, the conclusion to this trilogy. It was everything I wanted and more. At the beginning we get a great summery of the main characters and what we know from previous books. I’ve noticed this before, and considering the time lapse between books, it’s a great tool to put you in the right frame of mind. As most of us haven’t the time to reread the others in the series to remind us.
It’s very difficult to do a non-spoiler review when you’re bursting with excitement. The relationship between Kayden and Ella is now better than ever as they work as a team to eliminate the threats to Ella and the Underground.
As at the end of Denial Ella and Kayden are very much in love, and all Kayden wants to do is protect Ella. I will say after the planning something unforeseen always happens, and Ella knows she can defend herself when needed, and her memory is nearly back to normal.
As always a great conclusion to the Careless Whispers trilogy. I read it in one seating, I couldn’t wish for more. A five star read in anyone’s book.

Review: Honey Bee

Honey Bee Honey Bee by Heather Shere
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Honey Bee was a story about love and grief, and if turned inward can ruin your enjoyment of life.
This is the story of Sophia and Bo, who meet when Sophia moved to her mother’s hometown. Sophia has just lost her mother, but still carries out their plans for the future.
It was a funny lovely romance that I enjoyed so much. I loved Triton he made me laugh so much every time Bo was training his Football team, he wouldn’t stop chasing him. A great cast of characters with Judy and Dave, it was a feel good for me, I couldn’t stop smiling the whole time I read it. Sophia was such a good person, but she wasn’t a pushover and kept Bo on his toes. When he thinks that the sex is on tap. Wow the sex when happened was explosive, so explosive it I could feel the heat from my kindle. Sometimes you want to read something that has that feeling where you can laugh, and feel uplifted. This is what this did for me. I thoroughly recommend this book.

Review: Downtime

Downtime Downtime by Karyn Lawrence
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Downtime is a novella set in the Titan world. This book is about Parker and Lexi, who I gathered had both been super hackers, and Parker workedd full time for Titan, but for this novel it’s really newly married couple who go undercover at hotel that has a decommissioned government bunker underneath.
To be honest I haven’t read any of the Titan novels, so to me it was a Romantic Suspense novella with hot sex thrown in. I read the novella that way, and I enjoyed the action in and out of the bedroom. Lexi and Parker were a loving couple, you could feel it all through the pages. Lexi and Parker had been apart while he was on a mission. When he came home, and they were straight away to this hotel for the job. Well nothing is as easy as it should be. There was quite a lot packed into the pages, it kept me glued to the pages. I look forward to more from Nikki Sloane writing as Karyn Lawrence. I received this in exchange for an honest review.

Review: Playing Pretend

Playing Pretend Playing Pretend by Juliana Haygert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

REVIEW
PLAYING PRETEND

The story starts off with a Spring Break hook-up between Charlotte and Mason who have a rule that they’re not to know anything personal of each other. These two don’t let not knowing each other’s last names stop them from having serious chemistry.
Charlotte was the Governor’s daughter, and as such was always keeping up the appearances, which meant her mother kept her on a short lease. Her mother even decided on who her friends could be, what she wears even though Charlotte was at college. Charlotte had kept friends with her 3 besties Maryann, Becca and Liana from Middle School. They met up for skating every week, and that was the only time Charlotte could be herself, and wear what she wanted. So when she had the oppunity to go on the spring break in California with her friends she jumped at the chance.
So when she met Mason in a bar, Charlotte decided go for it. A hook up for a week, no names and numbers. The one thing they didn’t count on was red hot chemistry burning up my kindle. This was the first time Charlotte had been able to be herself, and she liked who she was.
I loved Mason and Charlotte, they were so good together. This is the story of both Mason and Charlotte taking charge of their own lives. Charlotte had an uphill battle, as her mother had even decided who she was to marry. So a great story, very easy to read and I read it straight through. The only thing that didn’t ring true was Charlotte’s mother’s change of heart, but I will certainly read this author’s other books and it didn’t stop me enjoying this one. So go and buy it yourself to meet Charlotte and Mason and friends you want regret it.

Review: Final Mend

Final Mend Final Mend by Angela Smith
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Final Mend starts when Jake, who is training for a Triathlon finds out that Brandon his cousin has been found dead and his daughter Amy has been kidnapped. Jake is devastated as Brandon was like his brother, while Amy is his goddaughter is the light in his life.
After finding out nothing helpful from the local police, Jake decides to hire the best PI he can find. This is where Winona a retired Pi comes in to play.
This book has many twist and turns which keep you on your toes. Some I saw coming, but that didn’t spoil it for me. This is very character driven and we quite a collection.
I also realise most of Winona friends and family have had their own stories in other books, but that doesn’t stop you reading this as a standalone. Jake is a recovering alcoholic, and drug user in his younger years, but cleaned up his act with the help and encouragement from Brandon. Jake is now a famous sportsman who is seen as poster boy for staying sober for 8 years and tries to set an example to help others. I loved Jake and Winona as a couple their relationship seemed very real to me.
As this book has mystery, suspense and romance, so I think I will let you buy the book and find out for yourself.

Review: It's You

It's You It's You by Katy Regnery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Book 2 started straight after book one finished. When Book one finished on a cliffhanger, with Jack speeding back to Darcy to protect from Half-sister and the consequences from the Council meeting after Lele challenged his binding with Darcy. This story is told from alternate points of view.
Darcy is pining for Jack, and is trying to make sense after seeing him changed. Willow is trying to help both Darcy and Jack as she knows they should be together. This is heartbreaking tale, when you realise what Jack has put himself through so he can make a life with her. This is heart breaking to read when you realise the lengths they both go through for the love of each other.
This is a wonderful duet, and I recommend to readers of paranormal romance or just romance. Both parties put everything on the line for love and each other. I would give this more than 5 stars if I could, what a wonderful way to start the New Year. I hope Kate Regnery will write more books in this genre. Review: Safe Bet

Safe Bet Safe Bet by Monica Murphy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Safe Bet was like stepping back in time with Drew and Fable, and a wonderful family union all in one story.
Sydney was a mixed up teenager, who comes from an entitled rich background who thought College and work were for other people until her parents disowned her.
I loved Wade, he was a great character. Very serious about his career and making enough money to make sure his mother can retire. Meeting Sydney gave him a chance to still be a young with someone he really likes.
Wade needs someone just for him, and Sydney learns she can be liked for herself.
My one complaint it finished too soon. I really enjoyed this book, it was easy to read. Sydney and Wade were a very likable pair. As always Monica Murphy hits the right note with regards to her young adult books. It was wonderful to catch up with Drew and Fable. I remember reading One Week Girlfriend and being blown away, nothing has changed. I haven’t read The Rules Series, but I think I will now. I would say you could pick the book up and read as a standalone, and still enjoy the read. This is a lovable romance between to likable characters, and sometimes it’s nice to read a feel good book.

Review: Rulers of Darkness Box Set

Rulers of Darkness Box Set Rulers of Darkness Box Set by Amanda J. Greene
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rulers of Darkness is three Vampire romances with a fair amount of sex thrown for good measure.
Caressed by Moonlight #1

The book is set in London 1814, and is the of the first vampire king Dorian to meet his long awaited mate Victoria.
I really enjoyed this book it quickly introduces the reader London society, and Vampire law and dramas.
Dorian marries Victoria to help her out as she destitute, and her awful aunt has her younger sister. This is an enjoyable romance that leads nicely into the second book.
Caressed by Night #2

This is the story Dimitri and Kerstyn and set in modern day Las Vegas. Dimitri had faked his own death, but has to come out hiding as he needs help finding and keeping his mate alive. This was another read that is very hot and sexy and with drama continuing in vampire community as a whole, and setting the scenes for other adventures.
Caressed by a Crimson Moon #3

This is the third and final book of the trio. This is the mad King Hadrian’s story and how he met his Queen Eva, and won back his clan. In this book you really begin to understand some of the other supernatural races. As well as other characters ready for their own book. A good collection of romances for lovers of the Paranormal. Review: Separation Games

Separation Games Separation Games by C.D. Reiss
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

These are the unbreakable rules in the game.

Stay collected. Compartmentalize. Think your next move through.
Never let your heart dictate your tactics.
The heart is impulsive.
The heart makes bad decisions.
The heart doesn’t see the long game.
The heart may have decided to get Adam back, but when the endgame comes, the heart’s going to be the one to break.
These are the unbreakable rules in the game.

Separation Games starts almost immediately after Marriage Games is finished. I was as devastated as Diana was when Adam walked out.
We start book two with Diana determined to get her husband back, and willing to play dirty to do it. The real Adam, the part he kept hidden because he felt ashamed to show that part of himself to Diana. So he suppressed an important part of himself.
The first half was mostly Diana’s point of view, and her dirty games to get Adam to admit his feelings and get to the real Adam. The second half was from both points of view. So join the Games to see how The Separation Games are played and see who comes out top. I loved both books and fell for Adam straightaway, it took me longer to warm to Diana. Adam’s name for Diana is The Huntress, and that never changes even when she submits in the bedroom. This is a love story where they both fall in love with their real spouses and finding the love to trust in each other. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
