Review: Dr. Strange Beard

Dr. Strange Beard Dr. Strange Beard by Penny Reid
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
Another triumph for Penny Reid as I fell in love with Roscoe, and all his quirks. Simone was perfect for him, and watching them circle around each was hilarious. Penny’s books have everything, a great storyline, wonderful characters and for the reader fulfillment.
Roscoe and Simone were inseparable as children, up to the age of sixteen. When they were drunk, Roscoe had confessed his love, and Simone brushed him off. Unfortunately she doesn’t remember, so she was heartbroken when Roscoe started to avoided her. That was TEN years ago, so when Roscoe pulls up at her mother’s doughnut bakery to buy a box to take home. He sees Simone, who is not usually there when he comes home to visit.
This book has everything, as Simone is undercover for the FBI, so one of their informants can pass info she is working for her mother instead of her Lab in DC. As Roscoe spends his time avoiding her he turns to go without his doughnuts. When suddenly his father is standing in front of him. That’s the beginning of the story, this book has so much going on, but I not telling. Its great catching up with some of his siblings, it was entertainment all the way. I loved every minute, it was a pleasure to read.

Review: After We Fall

After We Fall After We Fall by Melanie Harlow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I loved this book I picked it up last night, and couldn't put it down.
We have a widower former military man, working on his family farm.
Jack is bitter and unhappy still grieving the death of his wife.
Margot is great woman, daughter of a senator, lived a life of luxury.
When they meet the fireworks go off. Off course Jack fights his feelings.
Melanie Harlow's romances are always gripping, passionate and addictive and this was no different
I loved it , have I said that, it kept me up late last night.

Review: Break: A Stand-Alone Romance

Break: A Stand-Alone Romance Break: A Stand-Alone Romance by Cassia Leo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf http://bookaddict.live,
This is a story of young love with Ben and Charley who have lived next door to each other growing up. They fell in love when were young teens, after many happy years together Ben dumps Charley in the most public of ways.
Three years later Ben returns home when his father is ill. The first thing he does is find Charlotte to apologise. Unfortunately it takes a lot more than an apology. Cassia never lets her characters take the easy route, so there is plenty of emotional heartache before we get to the happily ever after.
I felt emotionally drained as I went through all the drama with them. This is a standalone with dual pov, as I always enjoy a fuller understanding of the characters when we hear from Charley and Ben.
As usual an enjoyable read from Cassia Leo, well written but sometimes I just felt like slapping Charley and telling her to grow up.

Cradled Cradled by Christina Bauer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved the Beholder Series, and thought it was finished, and then Cradled was advertised in Christina’s newsletter.
As always Christina Bauer did not disappoint, reading this was like the cream on top of a chocolate cake, delicious. We all love a happy ending to a series, but this was as action packed, with visitors popping in from different dimensions all added to the entertainment.
A Great ending for a great Series.

Moore Than a Feeling Moore Than a Feeling by Julie A. Richman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddict.live, 4.5
It was great catching up with Moore family, this time with Holly’s story. I felt like a fly on the wall watching everything going on. This is a story following rich tapestry of family life. That follows through from Holly and Aiden’s break-up. Two thanksgivings and many other family holidays.
Even though this is Holly’s heartbreak, as seen through the eyes of her family, and provides great entertainment with banter and bickering among family, friends and Ex’s. I must admit I felt right at home!
Great read with plenty of entertainment, also tackling Aiden’s problems after being injured and suffering with PSTD. This is a standalone with a happily ever after. I loved it , plenty of laughs even among the pain. This is book with lots of love and heart.

Review: Dirty Sexy Player

Dirty Sexy Player Dirty Sexy Player by Laurelin Paige
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have say is Laurelin Paige is a go to author for me. I have loved everything she has written, and pre-order books unseen and I am never disappointed. Laurelin has been very brave with this book by having the audiobook published first.
I have devoured every word, as I have a soft spot for Weston. So it took me a while to warm up to Elizabeth, and the way she treated Weston. For the first time in his life he couldn’t charm a woman.
I didn’t think I would enjoy anything as much as the Donovan Duet. This is a treat you can’t miss, as with any marriage of convenience, this is to help Elizabeth inherit her father’s company. Elizabeth can’t inherit unless she is married or 29. This is Laurelin at her best, with the quick fire conversations and sexual tension you can cut with a knife. This is written with a dual point of view, which helps us understand much more. It’s no secret this is my favourite way to read or listen as it gives the reader a full picture.
Alas we have to wait for book two in the duet to find out how Weston and Elizabeth cope with
married life and Elizabeth trying to save her Father’s Company from her cousin.

The narration brought this incredible story to life, Elena Wolfe and Jacob Morgan were Elizabeth and Westen

Clean Sweep a hot sexy romance featuring Cameron and Dakota who met in unconventional way. Cameron is a slob, and his house reflects that. Unfortunately his agent had book a real life TV program that films At Home with a Dragon.”
Cameron's friends send him a maid to clean his house, Dakota arrives from Eye Candy Maids, but can’t believe the mess. Cam is shocked when maid arrives and strips down to her bra and knickers, with suspenders and high heels.
If you read the blurb, I am not going to repeat it. This is a lovely romance, and Cam was wonderful! I want him, but alas he only had eyes for Dakota.
Dakota was a great female character, who after her sister death had custody of her niece Zin Bin as Cam called her. I think she stole the show, I’m blabbing again. So I really enjoyed this book, it is not all sweetness and light, but I had a big smile on my face and can’t wait for another one.

Review: Flip Trick

Flip Trick Flip Trick by Amo Jones
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
Another great book from Amo Jones, her romances are never sweet or fluffy. More like hot sexy, and edgy. We meet Maddox and Amethyst when there are seven, but don’t expect a normal romance, because even though there is a deep connection between them. Nothing goes right for them, but she finds a family with plenty of siblings even when she leaves college and goes to LA.
Amethyst is a great female character who loves skateboarding and skating, and never likes wearing make-up and dresses. Keeps to herself and can’t see what Maddox sees in her, and only has one friend at college her roommate.
If you like your romances darker and edgy this is the author for you.
I loved it!

Review: Lost in the Reflecting Pool: A Memoir

Lost in the Reflecting Pool: A Memoir Lost in the Reflecting Pool: A Memoir by Diane Pomerantz
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
The first thing I have to reiterate is Lost in the Reflecting Pool is a true account of one woman’s struggle to come to terms with living with a pathological narcissist, and her struggle to survive and recover after nearly 20 years being brainwashed into his way of thinking. You can read the synopsis, so I not going to repeat it.
Not only is this a harrowing account, it is also addictive listening, and I had to remind myself this is real life not fiction with a quick fix. I have worked with women and some men in abusive relationships, and helped them through some terrible times. Abuse is not just physical, the years of mental abuse is sometimes worse, because you believe “it must be me “.
Diane’s account affected me, I felt like I had been pulled through a ringer. Riveting listening that stayed with me for many days. The upside I told myself was Diane has survived and now she only looks forward. Great book Diane. The narration was so smooth, I wasn’t pulled from the story once. Katie Mitchell narrated this book faithfully and with heart.

Venomous Hunger is a SC-Fi Romance set in a future world where humans have no freedom. Most having been captured and kept in breeding facilities and then sold as slaves. At the moment there is a lot of books full of alien passion around.
This is one of the better sci-fi romances I have read this year. It is full of action and not just in the bedroom. It kept me gripped from start to finish. We have a feisty kick ass female Aliena and a big blue alien Kamal who loves Aliena his bloodmate.
Aliena grows in confidence and bravery, always caring for others wellbeing before her own. Even though Kamal is a seven foot strong warrior and pirate. Aliena protects him just as fiercely. A sexy action packed adventure with a big dash of sex.

Smitten in Santorini Smitten in Santorini by Kat Mizera
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
Wow I really enjoyed this book, I do love a second chance romance, and though with Santorini as the backdrop what could be better for reading on our summer holidays at home or abroad.
Lena hasn’t seen the love of her life for four years, and it couldn’t happened at a worse time. Her sister Sofia is going through a divorce, and Lena is looking after her little boy.
This is a lovely romance as Mick and Lena find out they still feel the same. Working together they have more time to sort out misunderstandings. This is a sweet sexy hot read, just perfect to read while relaxing. The is a quick read, but an entertaining and heartwarming one. I was left with a big smile, and was left with a feel good factor. What more do you want ?

Review: The Culling

The Culling The Culling by Ramona Finn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
This is book one in the trilogy. This book starts just as a culling takes place, and six year old Glade watches her father struck down and then his body is dragged away.
The Colonies are on the different planets, and are controlled by The Authority who are rule all the planets. They are responsible for the culling of all citizens showing violent or murderous tendencies.
The Culling take place every ten years.
They used datapoints, humans with tech integrated so they can read brainwaves, so they can kill anyone with dangerous and murderous thoughts.
Even though Glade’s father was taken in the last culling, Glade had no doubt the Authority was only trying to create a better life for everyone. Glade is now a Datapoint and will be responsible for the next Culling.
All is well until Glade is kidnapped by the Ferryman, and the she spends time with the leader. Everyone shows her kindness, but Glade is still firm in her believe in the Authority.
This is a gripping story keeps you listening, with superb narration. I listened to this in one go, as I didn’t want to stop. I ended listening through the night. I know this is geared to young Adults, as Glade is only 16years old. This oldie really enjoyed it, and I’m getting ready to listen to book two The Authority.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Ramona Finn. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Review: Motive

Motive Motive by Kennedy Layne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live.
Motive is book two in the Office Roulette Trilogy and follows the misfortunes of Grace and her secret lover Rye from a rival company. This follows Grace and Rye relationship and the impact of Brad’s murder, and how it has affected their lives. Lucky for Grace she has the support of her two best friends after the events that happened at the end of Means.
This is spoiler free, not that I know who the killer is as new suspects come to light, as more clues are found. We follow the fortunes from each of her friend pov’s as each book follows one of the friends and their partner's. The next book follows Cynthia and Gareth, and as this is a trilogy we should find out who the killer is.
When we follow each indivuial couple, the story is told from a dual POV, so we get a balance view. The more we find out the less people you can trust.

Review: Shattered Beginnings

Shattered Beginnings Shattered Beginnings by Lilly Wilde
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
Shattered Beginning is not a fluffy sweet story, but never the less I was mesmerised and pulled into this heartbreaking tale . Ragan and Branch both have been damaged by their upbringing. Reading about Ragan and the abuse she suffered as a child was heartbreaking, and I felt like I was suffering with her.
Branch with his mother’s metal health issues, and worrying about his brother, and the way it affects the decisions he now makes as an adult.
When Branch has to return to Blue Ridge when mother has gone missing, he ends up staying for a  longer period than he first thought. This is when he goes into his local diner and Ragan is his waitress. Ragan is the only women that doesn’t drool all over him, so he is intrigued.
This is a slow build with regard to the romance, not that there is any doubt there is a deep attraction between them. After finding out their backgrounds you understand why they are both gun shay . I’m impatient  to find out what happens next between Ragan and Branch. Unfortunately we have to wait for the next book to see if two broken people can love each other.

Review: Fury's Kiss

Fury's Kiss Fury's Kiss by Nicola R. White
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
I don’t what to say about this book. This book follows Tara's journey, and what happens when after  she is attacked, with her life in danger something ancient awakes inside her.
Tara lives with her 2 best friends Alex and Rachel, who try to help Tara, come to terms with her new path in life. Tara is lucky to have the support of Nora, Ruby her young daughter and Ruby’s Uncle Jackson who gets involved against his better Judgement.
This quite a fast paced adventure with evil chasing them and sometimes catching them. This is a great paranormal story which uses ancient legends and myths to bring to life this entertaining book. When Tara's Fury  Electra helps save the life of a young oracle Ruby. So instead of waiting for evil to come them, they decide to go and face it. This is book one, so we have quite a bit world building, and getting to know the players. This book was definitely Tara and Jackson's romance, so we have a complete story with a happy ever after for the main couple. Obviously a larger story arc will follow on to book two. A great start to an interesting new take on ancient myths and legends.
Elizabeth narrated all the voices including the male. I wasn’t pulled from the story once, so for me that is a big win. I was riveted from start to finish.

Review: The Successor

The Successor The Successor by Alina Jacobs
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
This is quite an unusual book, it’s not a fluffy romance it’s much more.
When Grant was adopted as a baby, he was very unlucky in his adoptive parents. So he joined the military straight from school. Grant is now a decorated Marine when Kate his birth father’s assistant finds him, and helps him to fit into a new life.
When Grant meets Kate he falls hard, and tries to be the man he thinks Kate needs and wants. Unfortunately there is a lot going in the background that prevents Kate from being wholeheartedly on board with the relationship.
I loved Grant right from the beginning when he rescues Gus from the pound. Poor Grant needed something of his own when going into an alien environment of his new life.
This is told from dual POV’s which is my preferred way of reading. As this is the first in the series, there is a lot of background with the family dynamics. This is the first book I have read by Alina Jacob and I’m please to say it won’t be my last. I enjoyed this book even though it tackles quite a few important issues. So I wonder who will be next Mark or Carter the other Holbrook cousins. I can’t wait.

What a delightful RomCom “Oh Baby “ is, and the hero of this tale Jack Pecker Decker the town’s playboy is a HOT firefighter. Every time he takes a run he has all the women in the town hot and bothered. All accept his next door neighbour Juliet who has to put up with the parties and loud music.
Every time they meet up, sparks fly, and even though they both feel that tingle nothing happens until someone leaves a baby on the doorstep. Then Jack finds out his a father to a delightful little girl.
This is a great start to DLIF dairies as we are introduced to a great bunch of characters, and I was laughing hard, and after reading the book I still had a big smile on my face, and can’t wait for the next in the series. There is nothing sexier that a big man cuddling a baby to get the ovaries twitching. Jack was really a sweetie, and Jules really loved him when she got to know him properly. This is a lovely start to a new series that is a delight to read. Told from dual POV.s so we get to know both characters equally.

Wow I have to say it, this is pure pleasure to read. I loved this book, it was just full of all the right ingredients. A sexy swoony guy that I fell for, definitely my kind of man. A lively intelligent woman that doesn’t need a man, but fell in love with Theo because it was meant to be. They were so great together, and I just love " I remember when"
I loved the advert on Craigslist for a fake boyfriend, I would have hired him. Sometimes a book has all the right ingredients, but is not always a winner. When it’s a Lauren Blakely it usually is, and this is no exception. I loved every minute, and was glued to my kindle from start to finish. I can’t wait for the Audio edition because I will buy it and listen to Theo and April brought to life for me again. I want to hear Theo’s cartoon talking vibrator voice come to life. This was sexy, funny and great entertainment, and I couldn't stop smiling.

Murder Girl Murder Girl by Lisa Renee Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed with Great Pleasure http://bookaddict.live,
We start as book one finishes, as always with a Miss Jones book we start straight away with plenty of action and some murders committed to start a war between the cartels. Kane Mendez still has a large part to play in Lilah's life.
This is action all the way through, and I was riveted by this tortured and brilliant kick ass woman that Miss Jones has created. Quite a bit happens in this episode of Lilah Love, The more we learn the more complicated and frightening the situation becomes. I hope I have conveyed the essence of the book, but not any spoilers. If it was a while since you read book one, as regular reader of Lisa Renee Jones Series, at the beginning is a reminder of all the main characters at where we are in the story. This is not a standalone, you must read Murder Notes first or you will be lost. If you haven’t read book one, it is well worth it.

Another take on vampire genre but completely different from what i was expecting.I recommend this book as a good read and I will keep my eye out for more books from this author.

As you can see above, this is the first book I read of Suzanne Wright and has always been reread with affection. Then suddenly I realised there is an Audio edition after all theses years.
Well I enjoyed every minute with Sam the vampire from London and Jared the sexist jerk she can't resist. This is an unusual series I just hope see the rest of the series in Audio form.

Dead of Night Dead of Night by William Todd
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
This was an interesting collection of gothic horror stories. William Todd sets the scene beautifully with each one. This reminded me of a Victorian men’s club on Halloween where each tell a tale of horror riddled supernatural entities. This is a collection of six stories, they are not long, but the scene is set so well you are there with each of the poor souls in danger.
This audiobook is only 4 hours long, and Ben Werling’s narration is superb, with the different voices executed so well. It was like listening to a cast of many, and my attention never wavered all through the six stories. This is one to keep for Halloween so you can share with your friends.

Cora falls for Coke straight away, but Cork fights his attraction because of the age difference. This is told from dual points of view which I always enjoy better. This has Coke’s crazy Ex-wife causes more than a little bit of trouble for the pair This is pure entertainment from start to finish, I read this in one go it was so crazy.
This is part of the simple man series, but can be read as a standalone. I can’t wait for the next in series, and I can always go back and read the earlier books in the series to keep me entertained while I wait. For fans of this Series this is a must read.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Review: Planet Dragos

Planet Dragos Planet Dragos by Thea Harrison
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I couldn't resist this book by Thea Harrison, not only do I love The Elder Races Series, but a book about Drago and his family is a must read.
As usual I read it in one sitting, and was delighted to follow Pia's second pregnancy.
I just loved catching up with my favourite characters, it's like going to a family union.
I was delighted and loved it all.

Review: Power of Five

Power of Five Power of Five by Alex Lidell
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Reviewed on behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
The first in a new series about magical group of fae warriors who are appalled to discover their fifth member they have waited for, is in fact female and a human.
We start with Lera who was orphaned as a child and sold into a life mucking out stalls and avoiding her master’s attentions which are mostly violent. When suddenly four Fae Warriors River, Coal, Tye, and Shade rescue her from her latest beating. Her whole world start changing for the better, as Lera begins to understand the world she finds herself in.
As the magic has chosen a human to join their magical quint. So Prince River decides it must to be a mistake. We follow them on their journey to the Council. What no one realises how the magic effects all the members, and how alive and complete they all feel.
This is a wonderful start to an entertaining and magical Series. This is told mostly from Lera’s Pov, but at times we listen in on the all five of the quint. We start to get to know the boys through thoughts and action. I can’t wait to listen to book two and find out whats going to happen.
The Narrator pulls you into story, and I listened to it in one go, as I was so immersed in the story.

Review: The Troublemaker

The Troublemaker The Troublemaker by Lili Valente
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a standalone, but in the same world as Magnificent Bastard and another Hunter brother meets his match. This one is Rafe who is the big hot Motor bike riding hottie with a heart of gold.
Rafe is happy to be used is a rebound guy, as long as the sex keeps coming.
The brothers are very different and I'm not spoiling this for you.
I listened to this while laying on a sunbed with perfect weather and something entertaining in my ears. This is again narrated by my dream team Andi Arndt and Sebastian York, what more can I say!

Review: The Baby Maker

The Baby Maker The Baby Maker by Lili Valente
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When Dylan Hunter is approached by his neighbour get her pregnant.
The whole town knows the Hunter men can get you pregnant just by looking at you.
Great entertainment, I was laughing all the time, even though there is a lot of sexy time with Sebastian York narrating Dylan is certainly works very well.
This is the first in a series featuring the Hunter brothers, so you know what I'm going to be listening too. Especially being narrated by the dynamic duo of Andi Arnt and Sebastian York.

Review: The Downside of Love

The Downside of Love The Downside of Love by Meghan Quinn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Reviewed with Pleasure for http://bookaddict.live,
Well Meghan Quinn has done it again, completely shocked me, and turned everything I thought I wanted on its head, but I loved it every minute of it.
I not giving away any spoilers, but this was a beautiful, funny and at times a painful love story centered on Rory’s caring and loving heart.
This is definitely one of my favourite Duets I’ve read this year, and can’t wait to listen to the Audiobook that I hope to enjoy at a later date.
In this book we get to know Stryder, and the background to his life when he was growing up with despicable father who takes every opportunity to belittle and verbally abuse him. This is not a romantic comedy, which I love from Meghan especially. This is so much more, and it will surprise you. You can’t miss this wonderful and moving Duet.
