This is a very different romance than what I’m used to from Lauren Blakely, as the love between Andrew and Holland was strong and not in much doubt. Andrew had a family tragedy  that had  left Andrew  a broken man, and this is his path to Unbreak and repair his heart.
This really pulled on my heartstrings, I couldn’t put it down . This is a beautiful book, and Andrew’s brother had left all the tools for him to recover.
Andrew and Holland was madly in love, but had to separate three years previously when Holland had no choice but train in Tokyo where her family was. Andrew was at Law school in America. His brother travelled to Tokyo so much he had an apartment there. When he was ill Holland came back to the states to nurse him. This is Andrew’s journey, and Holland is there every step of the way, I was a blubbering mess as I was gripped in this wonderful story.

This is an inventive second chance romance with a difference. To receive a phone call ten years after the end of a relationship, and to drop everything and to come running proves the feelings are still there.
Poor Luke woke up after being in a coma, with retrograde amnesia taking him back ten years to when he was happy and in love with Elle. Elle finds the feeling are still there, but it was her fault they broke up.
This is a story where love does finally conquer all, both Elle and Luke are still in love and were meant to be. Even with the obstacles standing in their way. This is a loving romance that perhaps Elle didn’t think she deserved Luke, especially with her upbringing and her mother’s manipulations.
Now ten years later and wiser, love is as strong as ever. So sometimes love does conquers all.

Review: That Guy

This is an unusual romantic comedy from Belle Brookes, told from the point of view of the female lead Mindy. Mindy is an attractive woman, with curves to die for. Mindy lives in Melbourne with only her best friend Chris and her cat fletcher for company. Mindy is a disaster around men, she is always so nervous she babbles.
Sometimes I wanted to say get a grip, she was a lost cause. Then she meets Arlie who Mindy feels he is so hot he can’t possibly be interested. This starts a comedy of epic proportions as their relationship starts its dance.
This is a feel good fun loving read once it gets going. I do think making Mindy such a klutz was slightly overdone for me. I did love Arlie, he was a great bloke. Watching them falling in love was entertaining. I not saying anymore because I don’t want to spoil it.

Review: The Sigma Surrogate

We introduced to a brave new world where the infertility crisis is at an all-time high. So young women who are fertile join the order of surrogates, and live in cloisters to keep them safe and healthy.
So when Joan is a young surro who gets a booby trapped Easter egg, and ends up burned and dying. Keke is a bio journalist, and gets a tip and gets into see Joan.
Keke uses all her talents to undercover whats going on. This is a great intro this world, a fast paced techno thriller. Keke is a great character, strong principled, and she really cares about people. Keke undercovers much more than is healthy. A great introduction to the series, it definitely got me hooked. This is told from Keke’s point of view. We are introduced to Keke’s friends and contacts who I hope to meet again. A mesmerising listen.
The narrator is excellent, she brings Keke alive, and make everything so normal. Everything feels real every strange thing that happens.

Wow what a wonderful romance, Jax is sitting in his cousin’s wedding feeling remote from the whole experience. Then suddenly his is mesmerised by the beauty walking down the aisle. Grace was standing beside the second bridesmaid when she felt someone looking at her. Jax for the first time in his life couldn’t stop looking at the beautiful angel.
This is was a slightly different romance where the Girl with principals usually gives in to the smoking hot guy straightaway. This was more of slow burner, but felt more real. As Grace and Jax grow together as they fall more in love. Jax has more than Grace to impress, her father is the town pastor who is a hard nut to crack. We also were introduced to a great bunch of characters, which I hope to read about in the future. A great read, I couldn’t put it down, I read straight threw the night.

It’s been my pleasure to read Alexa Padgett’s A Pilgrimage to Death, which is book one in The Reverend Cici Gurule mysteries. This has set the scene and standard for future adventures. This is a spoiler free as the book isn’t released yet.
Rev Cici has come back to her home town to takeover at the Local church. Cici’s twin sister was killed and the murderer never caught. Cici and the twin’s friend Sam a Detective returned to solve the case. Unfortunately is a year later when a body is found dead with the same knife wound as her sister.
Suddenly after a year things start happening, all being connected to Anna Carmen. I loved Cici and Sam, they had a real partnership together. Cici was real, with same fears as anybody else. A modern woman trying to make a difference. I grew up on Agatha Christie, and love a good mystery. This was a good murder mystery with a lot going on. I was glued to the pages, when I got my surprise at the end. I wanted to read another one. So book two please, as I’m impatient for the next one.

Another emotional romance from Lexi Blake, Wade and Genny were childhood sweethearts and madly in love. Until Brock Howard from the town’s wealthiest family decides Genny is going to marry him. So after the break up Wade has managed to avoid Genny each other.
Fast forward fifteen years and Wade see’s Genny for the first time in 15 years. Wade is shocked at the changes in Genny since her divorce. Still very bitter over the break-up Wade is not happy when his brother asks him to protect Genny and her son Asher.
Genny has suffered all through her marriage, now the only thing she needs is protection for her son.
This is a novella with the punch of a full length novel. Wade takes them to his home in Dallas and to his fellow team members of McKay-Taggart security and his 2nd family.
This is not a pretty tale, but it felt so real and Lexi Blake had me hooked right from the beginning to end. I love Asher, so old for his age, looking out for mother at all times
Abused women need to learn to live for themselves, before they can start a happy relationship. Wade was lovely supporting Genny all the way
Loved Asher great kid, brought into the protective family of McKay-Taggart when his mum starting working there. This was a heartfelt story that I loved, and can’t wait to read more from the members of McKay-Taggart.
